We have run 100 cow/calf operation for 30 years and use the Stockdoctor when cows are out on pasture. We also ran 600 yearlings on pasture for 5 years. The Stockdoctor is a very useful tool to use out on the range for cattle with hoof rot or pneumonia. Cattle can be a long distance from the handling system and when they are sick its too far and too stressful to move the animal. In such situations we rely on the Stockdoctor. We actually have 2 stockdoctor tools. We can preload the right dose, and have it divided to be delivered in two sites. As you know cows can get cranky and usually run off after treated. We’ve had good success with two people approaching and using the 2 Stockdoctor tools. The Stockdoctor is very light weight, easy to carry and handle. You need to get a good straight on hit and the needle will stay in the animal to deliver the dose. The cuff pulls the needle out as the animal moves away. The only problem I encountered was the syringe flying out of the cuff and would sometimes be hard to find in the grass so I have tied a streamer of flagging tape to the syringe barrel which does not interfere with the function of the tool. The syringe all unscrews for easy cleaning. I like that there is a lot of thread on the screws so the needle is very secure. The plunger can at first be a little tricky to engage, but be calm and follow the instructions in the instruction book. We have even used the Stockdoctor on animals in the corral that are too ornery to move into the handling system. For twenty years the Stockdoctor has been a stress reducer for treating animals. Treatment results have also been successful, and I will continue to use the Stockdoctor tool. Also replacement parts are available at stockdoctor.ca, they have a very detailed website and response time is great.

The Stockdoctor II has allowed me to treat my individual cattle and my calves with great convenience and ease where it is the most difficult, in the open range setting. And it is so reliable I am not afraid to use my more expensive treatments like Draxxin where I was with the other more unreliable remote delivery methods like darts. Even on my cattle in the more confined setting, its considerably easier than the hassle of sorting an individual animal out.

Like the Stockdoctor because of its accuracy when injecting an animal, the slow release of the medication and the revival of syringe. Can also inject larger amounts if I need to. Have used the same Stockdoctor for about the past 10 years, still works great!

The Stockdoctor is very good for out on the farm. I have used it for a long time maybe since the early 90s. I keep it in my feed truck all the time, just recently bought a dart gun and you are limited on medicine. At least on the Stockdoctor you can add 30cc. I just ordered 2 needles. And by the way thanks. It has got me out of a bind on several occasions.

We have used the Stockdoctor for many years. We have been able to deliver medicine to our animals without the stress of moving the herd to a facility as well as the issues of wrangling up help. The Stockdoctor works great for our cow/calf operation.

When I first started raising cattle, treating them in the pasture during the summer months was often stressful not only to the cow being treated but for the entire herd. Setting up a holding pen and chasing the cattle around the pasture just to catch one or two was, for me, not the best plan. I began searching for a better method and was introduced to the Stock Doctor about 4 years ago. Since then, I can treat a cow in a fraction of the time it takes using the old method. VanderBuilt Systems™ has truly developed a great product.

I would highly recommend this product. Purchased in 1995, still use it today. Not having to bring in the whole herd to treat one cow saves time, with less stress on the cattle. The employees are super to work with, very helpful.

We have used the stock doctor in the summer months for many years. We have several pastures with no way to catch the cows/calves to doctor them for bad eyes. The stock doctor works great for our cow/calf operation.

Thanks, Tracy Hill

The StockDoctor has become a useful tool on my farm. It saves large amounts of time and labor; instead of bringing in cattle to the chute I can treat them in the field. I use it off an ATV and believe it has helped with over all herd health being able to treat things like pink eye immediately. The unit is extremely tough, I’ve used it for 7 years and had zero trouble.

I am an Austrian farm boy and we are using the Stockdoctor on our alpine pasture to medicate the beef cows and their calves. It is a very easy way to medicate cattle without constraining or catching the animal and you can do it without disturbing your herd. So for the Austrian alpine pastures, it’s a very nice and price worth system to medicate free running herds.

Owning a Stockdoctor was one of the best investments I have made and I would recommend it to anyone that works with cattle.

I have used the Stock Doctor injection system on my ranch for a number of years now and I have found this to be one of the best and [most] efficient medication systems around.  Whether from horseback, on the quad or  on foot it is a time saving and effective way to treat animals with minimal stress on them and me.  I would highly recommend the Stock Doctor to anyone involved in the livestock industry who is looking for a safe, reliable method of administering medication for their animals.

Stan Robinson, Alberta

Hello,

My name is Stan Robinson.  We run a 80 head cow calf operation west of Bowden, Alberta.  As we don’t have any cattle handling equipment where we run the cows, finding a way to medicate unrestrained was needed.  We’ve tried several types of self injecting systems but we like the Stock Doctor the best by far.  With the Stock Doctor using a spring to administer the drug, you don’t have to worry about air pressure dropping like in the air pressure injectables.  Also having a tethered syringe we have not lost a needle.  I would say as long as your cattle are quiet enough to get close Stock Doctor will work for you.

Thanks, Stan.

Cole Granger, Alberta

We have been using the “Stock Doctor” for many years to treat individual herd animals from either A.T.V. or on foot.  The medicating system is very durable and easy to use, allowing you control of the syringe.  The best part is that the animal can be treated with less stress on the entire herd and the operator.

A definite must have piece of equipment for any range herd producer.

Willis Murray, Meaford Ontario

Earlier this week, I needed to medicate a 900 lb steer in an open pasture and was able to borrow a StockDoctor medication system from a neighbour.  This system was very effective in treating the unrestrained animal, without overly exciting the steer and the rest of the herd wasn’t even aware of what was happening.  The design was very effective in providing an adequate space margin to avoid being kicked during injection and the tether length was adequate to allow full delivery of the 30 ml medication while the startled steer ran away.

Prior to the treatment, I needed to adjust the pole device, so I called VanderBuilt Systems, as I did not have the user’s manual.  The service and assistance provided by Edna was outstanding!  She went “the extra mile” in trying to help!

I would highly recommend the consideration of the StockDoctor Medicating System for the delivery of required medicine to pasturing cattle.

CN Farms, Pakenham Ontario

As per our phone conversation about the stock doctor needle gun.  My wife and I farm 1000 acres with our two sons and daughter.  We have 25 milk cows and 50 beef cows.  We raise the beef calves up to short-keeps.

I love the stock doctor because it is simple to use, you do not stress the cattle by trying to get them into the chute or barn.

Our farm has had the stock doctor in use for 7 years and have only [needed to] replace the needle.  It is very reliable!  Would put it in a very good thing to have on the farm list!

Thank you,

C.T. Proc.

I purchased my StockDoctor 9 years ago and have used it many times to medicate cattle out in the pasture without the stress of roping.  Sick cattle can become a major loss if untreated.  Between myself and my neighbor we have raised cattle for more than 75 years and we both agree the StockDoctor is irreplaceable and has paid for itself many times over.
